| Animal Antics is owned and operated by Kelly French, BSc, MS (in progress). She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph, majoring in biology and minoring in psychology, and continued her education at the American College of Applied Science, currently in the final steps of her Master's level program in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling. Upon completion, she will become a Board Certified Companion Animal Behaviorist (MS, BCCAB) granted by the Board of Professional Certification of the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors (ACABC). Kelly is the only animal behaviourist with this level of education in the Windsor-Essex County area and will be one of the first Canadian graduates from the American College of Applied Science. She is also a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Kelly has been featured in BizX Magazine's October 2010 issue, and has attended the Windsor Pet Exhibit 2010, the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society Walkathon 2010, and the Windsor-Essex County Therapeutic Riding Associations (WETRAs) Hot Dog and Hot Rods Event 2010. She recently attended the IAABC's 2011 three-day conference in Warwick, Rhode Island, where she had the pleasure to listen to lectures by world-renowned trainers and behaviourists, such as Victoria Stilwell (It's Me or the Dog), Dr. Nick Dodman, Brenda Aloff, Barbara Handelman, Bob Bailey and Steve Dale. Kelly has a love for all animals, and a lifetime of experience working with them, from dogs to cats to horses. She currently lives with Riley, her 7 year-old husky/lab mix, and 6 cats, as well as one hyper guinea pig. Kelly continues to work part-time at a local veterinary clinic, providing hands-on experience with dogs and cats everyday. Kelly believes in positive, non-aversive animal training and is able to train basic obedience, and advanced obedience, as well as correct dysfunctional behaviours in dogs, cats, horses, birds, and small animals. Dysfunctional behaviours include aggression, fears, separation anxiety, litterbox issues, excessive vocalizations, and compulsions. |
